whew two!

So we were all ready to cut 3+ feet of the end of our garage, and we were pretty ticked about it.  I went to the surveyors with a listing of the charges.  The owner of the surveyor was obviously not happy but I was firm about it.  After a pretty tense meeting, the owner said that he was going to "review" the site map.  He would get back to me that day.  Meanwhile, our excavator had already removed the dirt around the garage and was preparing to cut the cement in preparation of the re-pour.  I told him to hold off on cutting.

Not two hours later, I got a call from the surveyor- he had found a solution!  He moved our property line an now we were behind the set back.  unbelievable.  How do you just "move a property line"?  He had some explanations, "older maps", "conservative vs. liberal estimates", it sounded just hokey to me me.  But who am I to ask questions?  We submitted the "as built" and the excavator refilled the dug up dirt.

Due to some ongoing "discussions" with the surveyor, I can't write about the amount of charges that accrued, lets just say the surveyor is balking at paying...

Game on!

So after is was all said and done, we lost about another week of build time, and finally, finally, have a poured slab.  Yea!!

Garage area, backfilled and compacted. Not leveled yet, though.

Instead of using the rigid 2" foam board, I used a product called "Insultarp" vapor barrier and insulator in one product, very easy to install. Teri and I installed the tarp and trimmed it, in about two hours.

The garage slab, graded and poured.  The concrete has a fibermesh weave in it to increase strength.

The main slab poured, but not smoothed yet.

Preparing to finish the main slab.

Framers coming this week!

Thanks for reading.
